Charlie Ross Running for Congress

Dear Friends:
Sharon and I hope that each of you had a happy and blessed Thanksgiving and enjoy the upcoming holiday season with your family.
Several weeks ago when Congressman Chip Pickering announced he would not seek re-election in 2008, I reached out to friends and supporters to get your thoughts on my running for his seat. Sharon and I received responses from many of you and they were overwhelmingly in support of my seeking the Third Congressional District seat.
After prayerful consideration, we have decided that I am going to run for Congress. We believe that I will be able to use the experience from my military career, law practice and service in the state legislature to serve the people of Mississippi.
The accomplishments of the last four years show what a dramatic difference can be made when we fight for our conservative values. Working alongside Governor Barbour, I am proud to have been a leader in balancing our budget and passing landmark legislation. Our comprehensive tort reform package was hailed by the Wall Street Journal as a “model for the nation” and we passed measures like the Castle Doctrine which ensures the right of every Mississippian to defend their home and protect their family.
I want to bring these same types of conservative values to Washington on behalf of the Third Congressional District of Mississippi. Conservative beliefs are good for Mississippi and good for our country. They include a strong military, preserving the rule of law by protecting our borders against illegal immigrants, protecting the unborn, protecting our Second Amendment rights and creating an environment where private business and entrepreneurship can flourish.
We are all witness to the intense battle on Capitol Hill over conservative policies. Many want to take our country in a different direction. For this reason it is critical that our next congressman has a proven record of fighting for conservative values and accomplishing goals. My record in the State Senate clearly shows I can do this.The Republican primary for the Third Congressional District seat is Tuesday, March 11, 2008, just three short months away. There is no time to waste. My staff is contacting people, raising resources and planning a successful campaign.
We hope that each of you will play a part in my campaign. I need your help whether it is financial support, volunteering your time and most importantly speaking to your family, friends, co-workers and fellow churchgoers and encouraging them to support me on March 11, 2008.
